'Hollyoaks' star Denise Welch says her husband never wants her to return to Twitter.
The 63-year-old actress - who plays Trish Minniver in the Channel 4 soap - quit the social media platform back in March after getting embroiled in several arguments about the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health problems caused by lockdown and UK politics.
Denise's spouse Lincoln Townley wants her to continue to stay off Twitter because he thinks his wife has been happier since deleting the app, but she hasn't completely ruled out a return to the microblogging platform.
In an interview with My Weekly magazine, she said: "Lincoln doesn't want me going back on Twitter. He sees me getting so upset by it. Twitter is the place of such anger and division, it's better for my health if I'm not on it. But I'm reviewing the situation. I might go back."
Denise - who is still an active poster on Instagram - had a Twitter account for 13 years but it has no been inactive since March 2020 and the account follows no other user, although it still has over 480,000 followers.
Announcing her retirement from Twitter last year, the 'Loose Women' panellist posted on Instagram: "I had a problem with Twitter over a week ago and it went down. Initially I panicked as I’ve used it for 13 yrs and knew I was somewhat addicted to the politics and the drama.
"After 10 days without it I’ve decided I feel so much better. It’s become a toxic place and so I’m no longer going to be a part of it.
"The support I get on here is much more valuable for my health. So it’s farewell @twitter, a wonderful platform for many things but I’m out. Thanks for the memories."
