Demi Jones has had a potentially cancerous, "golf ball-sized" lump removed from her neck.
The 'Love Island' star took to social media from her hospital bed to reveal she was "very sleepy" and in pain following the successful procedure, which has left her with a "really swollen" face and neck.
She wrote on her Instagram Stories: "Face and neck really swollen but the surgery went really well, the lump on my Thyroid was as big as a golf ball.
"The NHS Staff at QA Portsmouth have been unbelievable. And thank you for all your messages they have made me tearful (sic)"
Demi hopes sharing her experience will prompt others to check for lumps on their body, and she is now having a break from social media as she recovers.
She added: "In the meantime I'm going to have a little break from posting on social media, I hope this raises awareness to check your lumps (sic)"
Earlier this month, the 22-year-old star broke down in tears as she explained to fans that she had found a lump and doctors had warned it could be cancer.
The tearful star said at the time: "I went to go get the results today for my lump and they think it could be cancerous.
"I've got to go have it operated and removed.
"I'm worried, but I'm sure it will be fine. It's just a shock because you just don't think.
"I was sat there in the waiting room and it was full of old people and I was the only young one there.
"I know loads of women go through this so I'll be fine. It might not even be cancerous.
"They've got to cut it out to be sure. I'm just a bit shocked at the moment.
"I'll be OK, I'll get it removed and I should be fine."
