The 37-year-old actress - whose grandmother Iris passed away in 2015 after suffering from dementia - previously brought together singers with some form of the condition for the documentary series which will now return for a festive special.

She will be meeting new recruits for the choir to discuss how they were diagnosed with the disease and how they have coped during lockdown.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: "As ever, they speak with such honesty, finding humour when it's needed most and the sad reality dementia can bring.

"They are determined to continue giving people hope - the most inspiring people I know."

The upcoming special will also see the 'Line of Duty' actress reunited with her co-star Arian Dunbar who helps Mick Bosner - who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in 2018 at age 51 - perform at the London Coliseum.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported the BBC documentary was set for a two-part spin off series where Vicky reunited with some of the choir members, as well as meeting new recruits, to perform once again.

And Vicky had promised the first series - which looked at the scientifically-supported relationship between dementia and music - would tell a "beautiful story".

She said: "This project is an education piece and a beautiful story.

"I hope someone might get something from it. It might make someone's life easier, people might realise how powerful music is. My nana is going to leave a legacy now and I am really proud of her for that."

It was previously suggested that the BBC One show would get a follow-up shortly after it aired, as producers were incredibly proud of the documentary.

A source said at the time: "There hasn't been this kind of confidence surrounding a BBC documentary since the last David Attenborough nature show.

"Everyone who's seen it, including those at the very top, have been blown away by how emotional it is and left feeling they want more.

"The Beeb is already talking about a spin-off fronted by Vicky, before this show has even aired."
