Dayle Hudson felt "terrified" about meeting Steve McFadden when he first appeared on 'EastEnders'.
The Peter Beale actor made his Walford debut earlier this year, but he was initially "intimidated" by the Albert Square veteran - who has played Phil Mitchell since 1990 - during his first few scenes, despite only having one word to say.
He said: "I do have to admit I was a bit intimidated in my first scene with Steve.
"I was in the background in the Vic, and I only had one word to say, but I was kind of terrified.
"We speak loads now, though."
It wasn't just Steve who spooked Dayle - as he was also "really nervous" about coming face-to-face with Danny Dyer, who portrays Mick Carter on the soap, but the pair now "get on so well".
Dayle explained: "He's been in so many great films, and also done a lot of Harold Pinter stuff in the theatre - he's effectively just done a lot of stuff that I would like to do.
"But he was so nice straight away, and we just hit it off."
What's more, Dayle was "in awe" of meeting Laila Morse ('Big' Mo Harris), partly because she is "such a character", but also because her brother is Hollywood actor Gary Oldman.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: "I was so in awe of Laila Morse! Firstly because her brother is Gary Oldman, who is my absolute hero.
"But also, she's Mo from 'EastEnders'.
"I swear to God you can be a mile away from her, and just see her, even though she's tiny, she's such a character."
