Dawn French says Jennifer Saunders is trying to convince her to reunite for a new sketch series.
The pair became one of the biggest comedy double acts on British television with their acclaimed comedy show 'French & Saunders' - which first broacast in 1987 - but although Jennifer, 63, is keen to do some more comedy with her best pal, 64-year-old Dawn thinks that part of their career is over.
Being interviewed for YouTube on the Sarah O'Connell Show, she said: "I’m done with that. Done with the double act part of it ... But doing sketches on telly, I think we’ve had our moment with it ... though she’s trying to persuade me to do some more.”
'The Vicar of Dibley' star - who over the last decade has established herself as a novelist as well as maintaining her acting career with roles in programmes such as 'Delicious' and 'The Problem with Maggie Cole' - insists that she and Jennifer will work together again but not on a sketch series.
Dawn - who last reunited for the 2017 BBC One Christmas special '300 Years of French and Saunders' - added: "I'm not done with her. There’s lots of things I’d love to do with her."
Dawn also spilled that she and Jennifer - who is the creator of 'Absolute Fabulous' - marked the end of their live career together by getting matching tattoos, an inking which they both still cherish to this day.
She said: "We both have the same tattoo, which we got on the very last night of doing our double act.
“We were on tour in Auckland in New Zealand, and we knew we wouldn’t be touring our double act again. I mean, you know, here I am saying that and that was lots of years ago."
