Davina McCall’s partner offers her tips on the menopause.
The ex ‘Big Brother’ presenter called on her celebrity hairdresser boyfriend Michael Douglas to share some tips for perimenopausal hair care in a chapter of new book, ‘Menopausing’ as she believes men should be involved in that particular time in women’s lives.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literary Festival, the 54-year-old TV star said:“Men must be included in the conversation. It’s not a woman’s problem. It’s societal.”
Davina believes older women are “more outrageous” because they have closed their child-rearing chapter.
She said: “It’s something to do with knowing you’re not going to have more kids… there’s a freedom in your 50s to be a bit more outrageous.”
Recently, 'The Masked Singer’ judge shared when she first started going through perimenopause she “didn’t want to” open up about it.
Davina said: "When I became perimenopausal at work I didn't want to talk to anyone about it ... I was doing a live TV show called 'Stepping Out' and I was forgetting the names of contestants and making mistakes on the autocue, which I'd never done before.
"One day, the producer came into my dressing room and said, 'Are you okay? You don't seem yourself' and I said 'Oh, I'm fine.' Then, when she left, I just cried. I thought 'What's happening to me?'"
The former MTV presenter also revealed she does see ending her marriage to her ex, Matthew Robinson - with whom she has daughters Holly, 21, and Tilly, 19, and 16-year-old son Chester - as a “failure”.
Davina said: "That there's no such thing as failure if you learn something along the way.
"With Matthew and me, I don't see our relationship as a failure.
"We were married for 18 years - that was a successful marriage. We didn't go the distance, but we did well, and we made three great kids."
