Davina McCall will question why menopausal women are marginalised in the workplace in a new documentary.
The 54-year-old presenter is in the process of shooting a follow-up feature to her Channel 4 documentary, ‘Sex, Myths and the Menopause’ - which was released in the summer - and in the new film, she will examine how women in the workplace are affected as a direct result of their hormonal changes.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Davina said: "I have never had a reaction like the one I received after 'Sex, Myths and the Menopause' aired.
"It was profoundly moving and deeply humbling, and what I realised is that women need more answers, more support and a voice.
"Many amazing women have laid the groundwork before me in this field, and I want to arm women with the facts so they can make informed decisions about their bodies."
The follow up feature, which is titled 'Davina McCall: The Menopause Brain Drain', is set to air on Channel 4 in 2022.
It aims to answer the questions raised by viewers from the first documentary, such as if women need to take testosterone, what is the safest hormone therapy, and how breast cancer survivors cope with the menopausal symptoms.
Menopause is the time in a woman's life when their ovaries stop producing hormones and their menstruation ceases, and they are no longer able to get pregnant naturally.
It is a natural part of ageing that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age.
In the first documentary, Davina spoke briefly about her own experience, revealing her symptoms started when she was just 44 years old. She was joined by other celebrities on the programme who spoke about their experiences.
Radio DJ Zoe Ball told how her experience comprised of “terrible mood swings, anxiety, panic attacks, weight gain and loss of libido".
