Davina McCall is expecting couples to clash on 'Stepping Out'.

The host of ITV's new dance show - which sees celebrities and their real-life partners battle it out to master new moves each week - admits some pairs have already been embroiled in arguments while training for the programme and she is bracing herself for tempers to fray when the show kicks off.

She said: "The interesting thing about this show is that you have two novices leading each other.

"As a team, each couple is only as good as their weakest link and each dancer will be scored individually, which could be difficult if a couple are given very different scores.

"There have already been moments where tempers have flared up and I think more will happen.

"People will get tired week by week and that's when the mutual support becomes important.

"If a couple has been together a long time that could be an advantage, if you get on really well."

As well as expecting fireworks from the contestants - who include 'Loose Women' star Denise Welch and her new husband Lincoln Townley, and singer Brian McFadden and his wife Vogue Williams - the 45-year-old presenter thinks the judging panel, Mel B, Jason Gardiner and Wayne Sleep, could also come to blows.

She added to The Sun newspaper: "The front row are fantastic -- Wayne and Jason really know their stuff and Mel's not shy about speaking her mind.

"She and Jason are both strong minded so I'll be there like a UN peacekeeper. I might have a bucket of water to cool things down."

'Stepping Out' starts on ITV at 6:30pm tomorrow night (31.08.13).
