David Witts doesn't want to become tied to Eastenders at such a young age.
The 22-year-old actor is departing his role of Joey Branning later this year and though he has enjoyed his time in Walford, he thinks moving on is the best decision.
He said: "I'm so grateful to everybody at 'EastEnders' because they've taught me so much. But I have to look at the bigger picture when it comes to my career. I can't pin myself down to one show. I'm too young to do that.
"To viewers it must seem like I haven't been on the show for very long, but in terms of acting jobs, 18 months is quite a while for someone to be playing the same part."
David is ready to move on now as he doesn't want to get too "comfortable" or lose his passion for acting.
He added to OK! magazine: "I'm ready to move on to something new. I always said I never wanted to stay in 'EastEnders' for years and years - I don't want to be typecast. It's easy to get trapped in that bubble. But personally, I don't ever want to get to that stage where I'm no longer passionate about my job. I don't want to get so comfortable in a role that I become blasé about it."
