David Walliams is trying to be nice to Simon Cowell so that his 'Britain's Got Talent' contract is renewed.
The funnyman's judging deal on the ITV talent show is currently up and David joked that he has toned down his insults to his boss in order to ensure he remains on the panel.
He joked: "It's up to Simon. I just make sure I don't insult him too much in the last few shows because he'll remember that and I won't get the phone call. I love the show."
David and Simon share a lot of banter and mickey taking on the judging panel - which they share with Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
Despite their jibes, the pair are friends and when Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman welcomed their son Eric into the world two years ago children's author David created a bespoke book for the tot and made 50 copies, although Simon was initially puzzled by the thoughtful and generous gift.
He said: "Actually, he was immediately suspicious. I think he was completely confused by them and thought I wanted to publish them."
The annual winner of 'BGT' gets to perform in front of Queen Elizabeth at The Royal Variety Show and David, 44, admits he is a huge supporter of the 90-year-old monarch.
Speaking to Event magazine, he said: "She's an incredible monarch. She's been one of the few constants in our life and she absolutely understands her role. I got to meet her, which was a great moment for me."
