Simon Cowell has enlisted David Walliams to help him on 'The X Factor'.
The music mogul asked his 'Britain's Got Talent' co-judge to be his assistant at the Judges' Houses stage of this year's singing competition to help him decide on his finalists for this year's competition in a bid to bring more fun to the show.
A source told The sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "Producers want to push a fun side on the show and know David will bring the comedy and banter, especially with his ribbing of Simon.
"He's so unpredictable so no doubt he will have some tricks up his sleeve."
David, 46, may have been shocked to have received the invite from Simon because he previously claimed he never hears from the 58-year-old star when they're not working on 'BGT', even though they get along well during filming.
He has said: "We are friends when the show is being made. He will sort of invite you out for dinner and you think, 'This is great I am having dinner with Simon Cowell'.
"And then you don't hear from him for six months when the show is not on and then he will be back in touch in January."
It was previously revealed that Simon is taking the girls in his category to Los Angeles, while fellow judges Ayda Field and Robbie Williams - who have the Overs and Groups respectively - will also be in the city.
Fourth judge Louis Tomlinson has the Boys category and is taking them to Barcelona, Spain.
It is not yet known who will assist the other three judges in finding their finalists.
'The X Factor' returns to TV on ITV on September 1.
