David Walliams still “hasn’t had the chance” to watch the new series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 52-year-old star left the ITV show in November 2022 after audio transcripts of him making disrespectful comments about contestants two years prior were leaked, and now David has admitted he has not been staying up-to-date with the programme.
During an appearance on ITV's ‘Lorraine’, host Lorraine Kelly asked him: “‘Britain's Got Talent’ is on, how are you feeling about that? Do you watch, do you not watch? Are you a bit sorry about it all?”
David replied: “Well, I've been travelling a lot so I haven't had a chance to see it.”
After exiting the show, the comedian issued an apology for his behaviour.
In a statement at the time, he said: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2020.
“These were private conversations and - like most conversations with friends - were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”
Currently, David is working with Matt Lucas, 50, on a new show, which will be "edgy" in a similar way to controversial BBC sketch show ‘Little Britain’, which initially aired between 2003 and 2006.
Teasing what fans can expect from the programme, the writer promised non-PC jokes similar to the original series, as well as his and Matt's other comedy show ‘Come Fly With Me’.
During an appearance on ‘The Therapy Crouch’ podcast, he said: “We’re writing again but we want to do entirely new characters like ‘Come Fly With Me’.
“It’s a little bit edgy, there are jokes in it that are like, not in terrible taste, but - you - know - like ‘Little Britain’ was and ‘Come Fly With Me’.
“No, it’s not trendy, it’s edgy. It’s walking a line that some people might be a little shocked at.”
