David Salako has left 'Love Island.'
The 24-year-old money advisor - who hails from Essex - had been taking part in the hit ITV2 reality dating show and had entered the South African villa as a bombshell arrival earlier this week along with Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown but became the first Islander to leave the show this series after 22-year-old biomedical science student Tanya Manhenga recoupled with airport security worker Shaq Muhammad during Friday's (20.01.23) episode.
Following his exit, he said: "Going in as a bombshell was nerve-wracking! So, entering the Villa with Zara was great, as we were so confident together. I felt that we did shake things up a bit. The Islanders already had such a bond, so it was good going in with another Islander. Me and Tanya did have a good bond. We just found it easy to have a conversation with each other. But maybe that’s all it was between us, just good conversation."
When asked about the recupling, he admitted he had "no idea" which boy Tanya was going to pick and admitted that she and Shaq have a "good bond" before insisting that his former co-stars need a bit more "confidence" in themselves.
He added: "I didn’t know who Tanya was going to pick. It was a 50/50 split between Shaq and I. The four things she said during the re-coupling, I thought were about me, and then she picked Shaq. I
was like, that’s wonderful. They’ve got a good bond, but they’ll have tests. Shaq will have a girl come in who likes him. So it’ll be interesting to see if his head turns. But for now they are a good couple, definitely.
"I feel like people need to be a bit more confident with how they feel. People are scared of hurting other people’s feelings, which is obviously OK. No-one wants to hurt anyone’s
feelings. But you’ve just got to be a bit selfish in there. You need to come out of your comfort zone and you need to be confident. If someone doesn’t fancy you, they don’t fancy you!"
'Love Island' airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
