David Easter has revealed he is an alcoholic and is spending lockdown in a rehabilitation home.
The 60-year-old actor - who has starred in TV shows including 'Family Affairs', 'Hollyoaks', 'Emmerdale' and 'The Bill' - took to Twitter to reveal that he has been battling alcoholism for 20 years and he is spending the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in a facility in Kent.
He tweeted: "Apologies to all my Twitter Family for not being active over the last couple of months, I will explain why later. Just want to show my gratitude to Our Brilliant NHS and all the emergency services, our carers, key workers and everyone that is fighting this plague.
"You are absolutely Amazing!! So Courageous! This plague is unprecedented, but the United people's of our Beautiful planet will win this war! Everyone please keep safe, adhere to all regulations and we Will conquer
"Forgive Me, last message, as I only have use of my phone for a few hours. I'm in lockdown in a rehabilitation home in Kent, which treats substance abuse and Alcoholism, I've been an Alcoholic for over twenty years. I'm safe and making progress, thank You Friends Always (sic)."
David's Twitter followers quickly took to Twitter to share their appreciation for his honest post.
Tanya Franks, one of David's former co-stars, wrote: "David, it's been 17 years since we worked together or had contact. I'm so glad to read your message and sending you strength. Stay safe, keep well, and continue to be brave - you can do this!"
His friend Stuart Antony also wrote: "So proud of my best mate @davidjeaster1- we chat most days and he's doing amazingly well x."
And David later shared a message of thanks on Twitter, writing: "I'd forgotten how Twitter can be so Amazing!! Thank You with all my heart, for all your Messages of Support, you're Awesome!!! (sic)."
