Dave Myers has lost his famous beard after chemo

The 64-year-old 'Hairy Bikers' star admitted he saying goodbye to his facial hair had been one of the most difficult things about his cancer diagnosis.

Speaking to his friend Si King on the 'Agony Uncles' podcast, he said: "I just miss having my beard, the feeling of it, because your skin's different and all peachy.

"I'm missing my beard but doing alright. I was born with that beard.

"No, I want my beard back — I'm alright with my hair! I think the bald head and beard is the way to go for a biker as you're getting on.

"Under the circumstances, I'm doing alright."

Meanwhile, Si, 55, has ruled out making any 'Hairy Bikers' shows without Dave.

He previously said: "There's no [Punch and Judy] show without Punch and there's no Hairy Bikers without Dave.

"We've always been joined at the hip, so it's very odd for me and it's very odd for Dave. We'll get through it — he's as tough as an old boot."

Instead Si will focus on his music, explaining: "I have a 12-piece funk band which takes up a lot of time. We're on tour all year and will extend our stay in Spain."

Dave hasn't gone into detail about what he is suffering from.

He said: "I've got to come clean now, I haven't been too well recently and basically, I've got to have some chemo... So this year is going to be a bit quiet for me, I'm not going to be filming, some of the festivals I'm not going to be able to go to, some may be OK, but this year's a bit of a write off for us.

"I have had to speak up about this because I don't want to hide under a rock, but I would love it if people respected my privacy and just let me get on with it and give Si and our team all the support they need. That would be great. But look, the prognosis is OK. I'm going to be fine."
