Dave Benson Phillips is "truly gutted" 'Holby City' is to end - as he has "always aspired" to appear in the medical drama.
The children's TV presenter - who holds legendary status with many 80s and 90s kids - has issued a come-and-get-me plea to 'Holby' bosses as he seeks a role in the show, before the series comes to a conclusion in March 2022 after 23 years on air.
The former 'Get Your Own Back' star - who was responsible for many an adult being gunged on the game show in the 90s and early Noughties - wrote on Twitter: "People have been gently breaking the news to me that HOLBY CITY, the BBC drama that I love and have always aspired to appear in, is to end. I am truly gutted. (sic)"
Upon hearing about Dave's dream, a number of his fans took to Twitter to encourage him to try to land a role in 'Holby'.
One wrote: "It’s still on until March. Get in there quick! But it does suck."
And some even suggested he could give Holby's sister show 'Casualty', or BBC daytime medical drama 'Doctors' a go.
One fan wrote: "Unlucky Dave. Would you not consider @BBCCasualty ? (sic)"
Another tweeted: "Well maybe you could try for a role in @BBCDoctors for a few episodes ...
I am sure that gunge therapy is going to be hugely popular that might make a storyline!! (sic)"
Comedian Phil Allan Smith tweeted: "Im sure you'll ... Get Your Own Back somehow... sorry, couldn't resist. (sic)"
While Dave didn't stipulate what he could do in 'Holby', he would no doubt be well equipped to deal with any gunging cases at the fictional Holby City Hospital.
