Yesterday (April 8th, 2022), Sky Atlantic released the thrilling trailer for Season 3 of the intriguing multi-award-winning TV series, Das Boot.
Das Boot began in November of 2018, and quickly became a success, hence its numerous awards and praise from fans worldwide. The series follows a crew of U612 in 1942, who embark on a maiden voyage.
The show has received positive reviews from sites such as The Hollywood Reporter, who claims the series to be “a war story, a thriller and a love story all at once”, while The Guardian call it “a claustrophobic, clever and utterly thrilling reboot”. The Times also dubbed the series “gripping”.
The upcoming series, which will span 10 parts, sees Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Franz Dinda (The Cloud), Rick Okon (Tatort), Pierre Kiwitt (Lobos Sucios), Leonard Scheicher (Finsterworld) and Robert Stadlober (Summer Storm), reprise their roles.
In addition to returning cast, Season 3 of Das Boot welcomes many new faces, such as Ray Stevenson (The Spanish Princess), Ernst Stötzner (Brecht), Luise Wolfram (Mathilde), Elisa Schlott (Strange Daughter), with International Emmy Award winner Anna Schudt (The Sniffles Would Have Been Just Fine), and Joana Ribeiro (The Man Who Killed Don Quixote).
Das Boot follows the struggles of a young U-boat crew as they engage in a Battle of the Atlantic, while also being hunted by an obsessive Royal Navy Commander in an exhilarating game of cat-and-mouse.
The team are sent on a treacherous mission to the Southern Hemisphere, under the command of Robert Ehrenberg (Franz Dinda), who finds vindication, along with the family bonds he thought to be lost forever.
However, in the climes of neutral Lisbon, where exiles, spies and criminals consort with both allies and enemies, Hagen Forster (Tom Wlaschiha) discovers a deadly plot, one aimed to steal a fortune in war time gold.
This discovery will lead Hagen to question his own choices and moral ideas, and bring him face-to-face with a man, tangled in a dark conspiracy, who may change the course of the War for the better; that man is Klaus Hoffman (Rick Okon).
The drama will take audiences to Northern Germany’s Kiel, the major naval base of the German Reich for the first time, with each historically based strand leading to an epic series finale.
In addition to the new trailer, Sky has also announced that Season 4 of Das Boot will begin filming in June, 2022.
The third instalment of Das Boot is coming soon to the UK, on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
