Danny O' Donoghue says contestants on 'The Voice' need to be "well-rounded" to be successful.

The Script singer - who is a coach on the BBC One talent show - insists the acts need to work on more than just their vocals and stage presence as signed artists only spend around five per cent of their time on stage.

The 32-year-old frontman told The Sun newspaper: "There are some amazing singers on the show. But although they have a great skill, that's the tip of the iceberg.

"It's about how well-rounded they are. We only get to sing for about five per cent of our careers. The rest of it is how you conduct yourself, your plans."

Meanwhile, fellow mentor Jessie J revealed she won't compromise her own career for her acts - Ash Morgan and Matt Henry - and has told them they need to rely on their own determination if they want to become household names in the music business.

Jessie - who is joined by Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am on the panel - said: "We don't have time to wrap them up in cotton wool. We didn't have that. I can't imagine having someone like Tom Jones holding my hand when I started. When we're here, we devote our time to the acts. But they have to remember, we're doing what they're doing. We're just a little further down the line than they are. If we stop to hold their hand our own careers will suffer. #

"I've told my team, once this show's over they have to find promotion for themselves."

This Saturday (15.06.13) sees the pop hopefuls battle it out in the live semi-final, while Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye will perform on the show.
