The 25-year-old actor plays Aaron Dingle, who is in an on/off relationship with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), in the soap and admitted he didn't want to make any of the cast or crew feel "uncomfortable" by treating the pair's intimate scenes differently to any other filming.

Speaking on panel show 'Loose Women', he said: "To be honest with you it's a lot like this, what I mean is, there's 30/40 people stood around the camera watching.

"There's always that pressure.

"You don't want to get weird about it and start making people feel uncomfortable."

Danny's latest storyline has seen Aaron's dad Gordon Livesy (Gary Mavers) found guilty of sexually abusing him, and the actor admitted he has been affected by the tough plot because he is so close to his character.

He added: "You're working seven till seven, Monday to Friday, so it is difficult.

"As Aaron has grown and I've grown with him I feel a little bit for him, even though it's fictional.

"Certainly with everything that's come out about the historic sex cases, it's still coming out now, there's a duty there for us as a channel to get it right and research it properly and that's what I feel we've done.

"This is happening to people as we speak. It's so unfortunate.

"I definitely feel affected by it. It's a young lad that I feel I know a little bit.

"I got choked up listening to the way they [the scriptwriters] were describing it.

"The channel, ITV, wanted to make sure that he was given the worst punishment he could be for such a disgusting act."
