Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright

Danny Dyer says joining the cast in a new role on 'EastEnders' is like a "perfect marriage".

The 'Football Factory' star will make his Albert Square debut on Christmas Day this year when he becomes Walford's latest Queen Vic landlord, Mick Carter, alongside Kellie Bright - who will play his on-screen wife Linda Carter - and the 36-year-old star can't wait to get going.

He said: "It's like the perfect marriage. To take over the Queen Vic on Christmas Day, to be on primetime TV on the BBC's flagship show ... I want to show people what I can do."

The 'Business' star rejected a role on 'EastEnders' in 2009 because he didn't think he could cope with the pressure, and admits he still has concerns about going on daytime talk shows because he fears he might swear.

He added to Total Film magazine: "I always struggle with shows like 'This Morning' because I'm sweating profusely thinking, 'Don't say ****, don't say ****'.

"I go on 'Celebrity Juice' and '8 Out Of 10 Cats' and I shine.

"Jimmy Carr can throw anything at me and I'll play bat and ball. It's a beautiful thing."

Danny is the first person to admit he has starred in plenty of film flops and started to become "a bit of a joke" actor, but he is hoping he can impress in his upcoming 'EastEnders' role.

He said: "I did too many people favours. I realised, 'F***ing hell, I'm becoming a bit of a joke here.' I'm my own worst enemy. I don't blame anyone but myself."
