Danny Dyer's 'EastEnders' family have been revealed in a brand new image.

The 36-year-old actor will first appear on the BBC One soap on Christmas Day as new Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, the brother of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), and he comes across as smug and hard-nosed - much like many of Danny's movie characters - while gripping hold of his unimpressed-looking dog.

No-nonsense Mick will be joined in Albert Square by his wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), son Johnny Carter (Sam Strike) and daughter Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill), all of whom are sporting huge glares in their first picture as a group, ahead of causing chaos when they arrive in Walford.

Shirley and her wicked younger sister Tina - played by newcomer Luisa Bradshaw-White, who used to star opposite Linda in drama series 'Bad Girls' - also make up the shot, with the current Albert Square resident looking menacing and her sibling sporting an ominous grin.

Despite the group's stern looks, 19-year-old Johnny, the baby of the family, is said to be a "mummy's boy" who is "gentle" and happy to let his family cause controversy while he stays out of trouble.

However, he is harbouring a big secret that is set to rock his family.

Sam said: "I'm really excited to be joining 'EastEnders' and the Carter family.

"They're all really strong characters and I can't wait to see what 'EastEnders' has planned for us all. I've grown up watching Danny and Kellie, both of whom are lovely, so to be playing their son is kind of surreal."

Unlike Johnny, his sister, tomboy Nancy, loves to get in a grapple and often finds herself in trouble because of her stubborn and fiery attitude, much to the delight of her dad.

Maddy said: "I feel incredibly privileged to have been given such an amazing opportunity and I can't wait to start work with such a talented cohort of actors."
