Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer wants a role in 'Downton Abbey'.

The 36-year-old actor - who recently joined the cast of 'EastEnders' as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter - is known for his hardman roles but insists he is "talented enough" to take on a very different persona in the period drama.

He said: "I'm talented enough to do it, it's whether they'd have me. I could be a barrow boy or I could do the posh thing.

"I just think that, you know, I've got such a persona that when people think of Danny Dyer, whatever that is, people wouldn't see past that."

Danny is grateful for the support he has been given by 'EastEnders' veterans Shane Richie and June Brown in his new role as there has been so much to learn.

He added to heat magazine: "Shane Richie has been great. He was running the Queen Vic and you need to learn how everything works.

"I couldn't even open the f***ing till. It's a lot to take on, it's a lot mentally to remember and he's just there to show me around and stuff.

"Dot Cotton - June Brown - is amazing too. She's 86 years old and still on set learning lines. She's very professional - she's June f***ing Brown, do you know what I mean? It's very surreal."
