Danniella Westbrook could be returning to 'EastEnders', according to insiders.
The 43-year-old actress has played Samantha Mitchell on the popular BBC soap opera on-and-off since 1990, and with the recent on-screen deaths of Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell (played by Samantha Womack and Rita Simons respectively), sources claim it is the "perfect time" for show bosses to bring Danniella back.
A source told The Sun Online: "Danniella would be overjoyed to return to EastEnders and reprise her role as Sam Mitchell. It feels the perfect time.
"After Ronnie and Roxie's deaths, Jack is at rock bottom on the show, so Sam returning would be the support he really needs to help him look after their son.
"It's been a difficult few months but returning as Sam Mitchell and getting a new house again would really lift her spirits. It would be a completely new start."
For Danniella - who has two children, Kai, 20, and Jody, 13, with her former husband Kevin Jenkins - the possibility of returning to Albert Square comes as good news, as she recently found herself without a permanent home after she failed to keep up her rent payments.
A source said at the time: "She's been busy viewing but hasn't found her new home. Obviously timing isn't great with it being so close to Christmas but she isn't rushing into anything and is staying with friends and family over the festive period. Danniella now has a whole new team around her after spending a lot of 2016 surrounded by toxic people."
And the star is also looking to turn her luck around after she was struck with septicaemia over the summer.
The blonde star spent weeks in hospital while doctors tried to get the infection, which can be fatal if not treated, under control with antibiotics but she was later informed she had no choice but to have all of her teeth ripped out after the bacteria spread to the roof of her mouth.
