Daniel O'Reilly has vowed never again to perform as comedy alter ego Dapper Laughs.
The television personality reveals that the persona has been retired after he was caught on-film telling a woman that she was "gagging for a rape".
Speaking to BBC Two's Newsnight yesterday, Daniel explained: "Dapper Laughs is gone.
"It was a type of comedy that I should not have been doing.
"I am not going to do what maybe other comedians would do and stand behind it and say, 'if you do not like it then switch off'. I do not agree with it. I don't want to be seen as that and it was a shame that it went so far.
"It was great at the beginning, it's completely ruined everything going on for me as a comedian.
"It's wrecked my life to a certain extent."
This came after the announcement from ITV that they wouldn't be picking up a second series of the show after a petition of over 50,000 signatures was collated, calling for its axe.
A network spokesperson said: "We have given careful thought to the recent criticism of the character Dapper Laughs, which has focused on his activities outside of the ITV2 programme, whose content was carefully considered and complied.
"We have taken the decision that we will not be considering this show for a second series."
Also announced yesterday was the cancellation of all of Daniel's Full Length comedy tour.
