Craig Revel Horwood has hinted he could depart Strictly in two years

The 58-year-old judge on the star-studded BBC One Latin and ballroom competition has admitted he wants to “hang up [his] shoes and enjoy life” when he hits 60, as he reflected on being the same age as the late Len Goodman was when he started as a panellist on the programme back in 2004.

The television personality told Best magazine: “I’m working hard while I can, especially as I love what I do. It keeps me on my toes, darlings!

“I'm now the same age as the late, great Len Goodman was when he first started - that's scary, isn't it?!”

Craig admitted the reason he loves working on the show - which is fronted by Claudia Winkleman, 51, and Tess Daly, 54 – is because the new cast of celebrity contestants keep the show fresh each year.

This year's crop of stars includes ‘EastEnders’ star Bobby Brazier, 20, TV presenter Angela Scanlon, 39, and ‘Channel 4 News’ anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53.

He said: “The reason I look forward to it every year is because the cast changes. I think that's what's fun about it, it doesn't age. And this year's line-up is fab-u-lous!"

The West End star - who is engaged to Jonathan Myring - previously admitted his marriage to his ex-wife could have seen him become a family man “without a shadow of a doubt”.

Craig told Kaye Adams, 60, on her podcast ‘How to Be 60’: “If that relationship had worked out, I could have seen a life where I would have been married to a woman and had kids, without a shadow of a doubt."
