Craig Charles "took the mick out" of two members of the Beatles.
The 'Red Dwarf' star recalled meeting George Harrison and Ringo Starr in 1984, when he was just in his early 20s, and berated them for leaving Liverpool, which he dubbed "the centre of the universe".
He recalled: "I remember once, I was at dinner and sitting opposite me was George Harrison and sitting next to him, was Ringo Starr. And sitting on my right was Michael Caine. And sitting at the head of the table was Bob Hoskins. And sitting at the bottom of the table was Neil Jordan.
"I remember sitting there having dinner with them, just having idle banter. Ringo was still drinking back then and he was hilarious. I was just thinking, 'Oh my God, I've arrived!' They were all talking to me about Liverpool and asking me what Liverpool was like now. I was taking the mick out of them saying, 'Well, you'd find out if you ever went back there, George!' I was kind of berating him for abandoning Liverpool – 'You left us, you left us George - what were you thinking? Liverpool is the centre of the universe!'"
And the 56-year-old actor thought at the time that meeting stars of this level would happen time and time again, something which he admits was down to him being "so terribly young".
Speaking on White Wine Question Time, he added: "I thought to be honest, at the time, that that was going to be an everyday occurrence. I was going to be hanging out with The Beatles and Michael Caine … And that was the way my life was going to go. I was so terribly young. It's only much later on, when you reflect on it, you think, ‘Wow, wasn't that sort of a special moment?’ because I was a Beatles fan."
