Courtney Act joined 'Celebrity Karaoke Club' to try to get over her "phobia".
The 38-year-old drag queen - whose real name is Shane Jenek - is set to take part in the upcoming ITV celebrity singing competition to battle her fear of singing along to other people's songs.
Appearing on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain' on Friday (21.08.20), she revealed: "I think that life is about facing your fears, and although I am a singer, I actually have a phobia of karaoke.
"I've hosted karaoke before, but when it comes to singing it - you know there are those people who are really good at karaoke? They may not be good singers, but they're good at karaoke.
"I guess I'm a bit more of a person who likes to be in control when it comes to performing. Knowing the song, knowing the lyrics, knowing the key.
"So, karaoke is always a bit nerve wracking as a singer. I think the show is about performance, not about the singing but I can put on a pretty good show as well."
Courtney rose to fame on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' in 2014, becoming the first Australian drag queen in the show's history and finishing as joint runner up with Adore Delano behind winner Bianca Del Rio.
Meanwhile, 'TOWIE' star Jess Wright has been announced as the latest star to sign up for 'Celebrity Karaoke Club' in a bid to win herself a record deal.
The 34-year-old reality star is hoping her voice will attract some executives after her music career flopped in 2012.
An insider revealed: "Jess is a really talented singer but her music career has taken a back seat in recent years.
"She took up the offer of joining this new singing show as it's a great opportunity to show off her vocal range. People often forget Jess is a singer and she thinks this could be the perfect chance to get known again for her voice."
