'The Coroner' has been given the axe.
The daytime television drama has only been on screens two series and, considering the time of day it was aired, managed to rake in one million plus viewers but it seems the BBC weren't happy with its success and have decided to give it the boot.
The show's fate was announced in a press release on its website this week: "After two fantastic series, 'The Coroner' won't be returning as we look for opportunities to bring through new programmes for the BBC One daytime audience. We'd like to thank the brilliant cast and production team for all of their hard work."
However, the shock news hasn't gone down too well with viewers and some die-hard fans have even started an online petition to bring it back later this year.
The drama stars Claire Goose as single mum Jane Kennedy who returns to her hometown Lighthaven in Devon and is reunited with her former childhood sweetheart Detective Sergeant Davey Higgins (Matt Bardock) as they investigate murders.
The writer Sally Abbott previously said that she based Jane and Davey on the sexual tension between Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey in 1949's 'Adam's Rib'.
And it's not just the fans who are devastated with the verdict as Claire has since taken to her Twitter account to express her "sadness" about the shock axe.
She wrote: "Truly overwhelmed for all the love for #The Coroner. You've made a very sad day bearable. Thank you. Much love to you all."
Matt added: "Absolutely overwhelmed with the love for #TheCoroner thank you. Who knows may be we can do it again one day! Amazing group of people involved. (sic)"
