'Coronation Street's Kym Marsh has reportedly been handed a "bumper new deal" that will keep her on the soap until at least the summer of next year.
The 40-year-old actress - who has played loveable barmaid Michelle McDonald (nee Connor) in the long-running soap for the past 11 years - has recently been asked by bosses to extend her contract with the programme for another year after she impressed them with her portrayal of her alter ego's devastating stillborn storyline.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The bosses are delighted with Kym. Over the past year she has been handed some really challenging storylines, and she has handled them all brilliantly. But it was the miscarriage scenes that really blew them away. What's more, they had a huge impact on viewers, many of whom got in touch to say how moved they were. Over the years Michelle has become a real 'Coronation Street' favourite and everyone is pleased that Kym has signed for another year."
The stillborn storyline the brunette beauty recently played out on screen was particularly hard for Kym as she was forced relive the heartbreak she experienced when she lost her son Archie, who tragically died just moment after he was born, in 2009.
She said recently: "My reasons behind agreeing to go ahead with it [the devastating storyline] were in the hopes that it might help someone somewhere. That someone might relate to it and it would help people to talk."
And the future doesn't look bright for Michelle as she's just found out her husband Steve McDonald cheated on her with her friend Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) last year while they were on the rocks and has now fathered her newborn son.
