'Coronation Street' stars will take on the Army Tug of War team in a special festive forces show.
Simon Gregson - who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap - Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), Victoria Ekanoye (Angie Appleton) and Melanie Hill (Cathy Matthews) teamed up with crew and supporting cast members to take on the Army's official team for Christmas programme 'Totally Christmas'.
The compilation show will air on Forces TV on Christmas Eve (24.12.18) and feature messages sent from military families to their loved ones back home and overseas, as well as the tug of war challenge.
Antony was shocked to find out the army even had such a team.
He wrote on Twitter: "I have just found out that the @BritishArmy has an actual Tug O'War team. All arms and official. Who knew?!?! (sic)"
One of the tuggers tweeted him saying: "Thank you all for giving up your lunch hour to spend it on the end of the rope with some of the Army Tug of War team. It was a great afternoon and we thank you all. (sic)"
'Corrie' took on the Army in three "pulls", but fans will have to tune into the show to see what the final score was.
It's not the first time the 'Corrie' cast have taken part in a tug of war.
The soap's 1967 Christmas Day (25.12.67) episode saw character Albert Tatlock (Jack Howarth) getting some of the residents together for a tug of war between the Rovers Return pub and rivals The Flying Horse.
Albert managed the Rovers team, which featured a younger Ken Barlow (Bill Roache), and Jimmy Leadbetter (Bud Ralston) did the same for The Flying Horse.
Sadly for Albert, The Flying Horse team ran out easy winners.
'Totally Christmas' airs on Christmas Eve at 12pm on Forces TV in the UK and on Forces Radio BFBS.
