'Coronation Street' have been hit with 136 Ofcom complaints after Seb Franklin and Nina Lucas were brutally attacked.
The characters - played by Harry Visinoni and Mollie Gallagher - were set upon by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) and his gang due to her alternative identity last week, and as a result several people contacted the UK's communications regulator over the beating.
Following the attack on May 5th, Seb died of his injuries in Friday's (07.05.21) double episodes.
The plot was inspired by the real-life murder of Sophie Lancaster, who was stamped to death by a gang in 2007 for being a goth.
Harry admitted this week he found the hard-hitting storyline "very emotional" to act out, but he thought it was a "worthy ending" for his character.
He said: "It's quite emotional, because I've become quite attached to Seb. We've grown from boys to men together.
"I had a meeting with Ian MacLeod to discuss potential avenues for Seb and this came up as an option.
"I immediately connected with the storyline, and it was immediately something I wanted to be part of.
"I just thought it was a very worthy ending for Seb.
"It's very emotional, but it's the right time."
Harry also revealed his real-life girlfriend Ellie Isaacs' hand was used to stroke Seb's face as he lay dying in a hospital bed, as she stood in for his on-screen mum Sally Carman (Abi Franklin) to enable the soap to get around social distancing regulations.
He said: "They asked me to bring in my girlfriend to play Abi's hand.
"So in the scenes that aired on Friday it was my girlfriend's hand. Very funny.
"It was really nice, because she got to see what it is I do before I left and she features in my last scene ever."
