The 'Coronation Street' cast don't know who attempted to murder Ken Barlow.
Viewers were left on the edge of their seats in last night's (27.03.17) show after the loveable grandfather - portrayed by Bill Roache - was found unconscious at the bottom of the stairs, prompting police to launch a murder investigation later this week, but the stars of the soap have admitted they have no idea who would want him dead.
Bill explained: "I'm getting up the nose of a lot of people ... We don't know but we've got scripts coming up soon where we will find out so it's going to be very interesting."
However, there are many people who could have attempted to kill off Ken as his daughter Tracy Barlow - played by Kate Ford - is no stranger to getting someone to disappear - having previously murdered Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward).
Kate told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She definitely could have done it, but did she do it? He said some pretty upsetting things. She's got form for violence."
Ken's alcoholic son Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) will also find himself in the firing line because it's no secret that the pair haven't had the best relationship over the years.
Chris said: "The thing is, I don't know genuinely who did it. It could be any one of us so we don't know. Yes there's a possibility he could have done it. He's furious at Ken and he's been chipping away at him for a while."
Villain Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) - who has killed in the past - also has it in for Ken after he accused him of doing a botched job on the kitchen in his family's home.
Connor said: "Can you believe it, besmirching my reputation. It doesn't take much to set Pat off. He's always been good at hiding in plain sight but he could be too obvious. He can take the hump very easily so he's a definite possibility."
