Connor McIntyre would love the "challenge" of playing Pat Phelan's twin brother in 'Coronation Street'.
The 60-year-old actor - who portrayed the infamous cobbles villain on and off between 2013 and 2018 before the character was killed off - is intrigued by the idea of introducing a "genuinely nice" sibling to Weatherfield.
Asked about playing twin "Matt", he said: "The actor in me goes, 'Wow, there's a challenge'. In a beautiful way, the tables would be reversed.
"Everybody on the Street would not be well disposed to Pat Phelan's twin brother, would they?
"They'd all be horrible to him! Although, what if Matt was a genuinely nice guy?"
The former soap star admitted it would take some real "courage" from the 'Corrie' writers, but he would up for a comeback to see how it works out.
He added: "It would take an awful lot of courage from the team on the show, but what a shocker.
"Could you imagine Eileen's face? I tell you what... I'm in, kid."
Connor admitted the team showed similar levels of bravery with serial killer Pat's run as one of Corrie's most memorable baddies, and he recalled some backlash during the "early days" of his reign of terror.
He told Inside Soap magazine: "I think it was at the point of [former 'Coronation Street' boss] Kate Oates' stewardship on the show that we got as close to emulating any big drama that was on TV.
"To be able to do that stuff pre-watershed I thought was really brave, and I remember in the early days of Phelan, people would say, 'Who is this guy? Get rid of him, he's awful!'
"So the producers were very courageous to go on a ride with Phelan, and to lose some of the very likeable characters that he did away with."
