Colin Baker is to guest star in 'Emmerdale' later this month.
The 'Doctor Who' legend - who portrayed the sixth incarnation of the titular Time Lord in the sci-fi series from 1984 to 1986 - is to portray Michael, the potential love interest of Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen), in the ITV soap.
He said: "I am so old that I remember watching 'Emmerdale Farm' long before it became just 'Emmerdale' when my friend (and colleague from 'Doctor Who' days) Frazer Hines was a youthful Joe Sugden and the wonderful Arthur Pentelow was in the cast.
"So to get a call to join the cast, albeit briefly, as a possible love interest for Elizabeth Estensen, an actress I had long admired, certainly appealed to me."
During his time in the Dales, Colin also enjoyed rubbing shoulders with his pal Patrick Mower, who plays Rodney Blackstock in the soap.
He added: "A bonus was the fact that also in my scenes was Rodney Blackstock, played by my old friend Patrick Mower.
"I enjoyed my COVID compliant time with both of them in Leeds inordinately.
"As to what happened, well you'll just have to watch and find out.
"It's a bit of a puzzle actually!"
But Colin is no stranger to Soapland, having guest starred in BBC daytime show 'Doctors' on several occasions.
In 2001, he portrayed Jack Howard in episode 'Matters of Principle' and he went on to star as characters Charles Dillon, Professor Claybourne Jarvis, and Augustus Bloom in 2006, 2009, and 2011 respectively.
Colin has also appeared in 'Casualty' episodes in 1989 and 1998, and he starred in 'The Bill' in 1997.
Former 'Doctor Who' star Frazer - who portrayed companion Jamie McCrimmon in the sci-fi series - played Emmerdale's Joe from 1972 and 1994.
The soap was known as 'Emmerdale Farm' from its 1972 debut until November 1989, when the title was shortened to 'Emmerdale'.
