Claudia Winkleman says everyone at ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ cried after Fleur East received the first perfect score of the series last weekend.
The co-host of the BBC Latin and ballroom show admitted there wasn't a dry eye in the house when the ‘Sax’ hitmaker, 35, and her professional partner Vito Coppola, 30, received 10s across the board from the judges, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood for their Couple’s Choice performance on Saturday (19.11.22).
The 50-year-old broadcaster told HELLO! magazine: "It was amazing. We all cried. It was because her mum was so moved. The atmosphere was electric. Craig was so clever because he took quite a long time to lift it [his paddle], and then he did."
Claudia added to the outlet that the Glitterball was "anyone's game" at the moment, and she was unable to pick a favourite from the remaining crop, which includes presenter Helen Skelton, wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, comedian Ellie Taylor, actor Will Mellor, after radio DJ Tyler West and his partner Dianne Buswell were given the boot last weekend.
During Fleur and Vito’s feedback from the judges, Craig said: "One word, three syllables, beginning with 'f' FAB-U-LOUS!"
Head judge Shirley labelled it an "iconic routine that would go down in history".
Anton admitted he had been "waiting for this number" from the Hits Radio DJ and the professional - who joined the BBC One star-studded Latin and ballroom competition this year - all series.
After earning top marks, Fleur told Claudia that she was “just overwhelmed to be honest,” before quipping: "I've always wanted to be part of Destiny's Child and Vito got to be Michelle, it was amazing."
She labelled it a "full circle moment,” admitting: "I grew up listening to Destiny's Child, they really inspired me to become an artist,” as the camera panned to her mother, Irene Frimpong-Manso in tears of joy.
