Christine McGuinness suffered a secret cancer scare after finding a lump in her breast.
The 35-year-old TV star has revealed the health crisis was many years ago - before she became a mum to her three children with ex Paddy McGuinness - and it left her terrified because she has a family history of breast cancer.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper at the The Pink Ribbon Foundation's charity gala, she explained: "Before I had children, I found a lump one day. Women in my family have had breast cancer. Because of that history, I got seen quite quickly. I had a full check-up and I had scans."
The lump turned out not to be cancerous but Christine continues to check herself every time she has a shower.
She added: "If you see any changes or you are unsure, you’ve got to go and get it checked out."
Christine's mum Joanne was previously diagnosed with breast cancer as well as her three aunts, but TV star confirmed in 2021 that Joanne's cancer was in remission after undergoing treatment.
It comes as Christine admits her mum has been a huge support to her as she goes through her divorce from Paddy following the breakdown of their 10-year marriage.
According to The Mirror newspaper, she said: "I am obviously going through a difficult divorce right now, things are hard, but I will always continue to smile and the reason is because I am my mother’s daughter, she has instilled that in me.
"She has been my rock and is a huge inspiration to me."
Christine went on to add she can't wait to see the back of 2023 after a difficult year. She added: "I am doing OK. Obviously there are a lot of changes going on and it’s not easy but I am really looking forward to 2024. I know you shouldn’t wish your life away but I am looking forward to this year being over and starting next year fresh with a bang. I really want to focus on the positives and make the most of a new year and new opportunities."
