Christine McGuinness - who has eight-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and Felicity, five, with the TV presenter - is relieved to discover she isn't a carrier of the BRCA gene after her mother Joanne was diagnosed with cancer in September.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I'm just really relieved. Thank God it came back negative. It doesn't mean I can't get cancer, but it means my chances are the same as anybody else's."

The 33-year-old model was initially worried about getting the test done because she feared it would be invasive but was pleasantly surprised by how quick and straightforward it was.

She explained: "It's sent in the post – it's just a saliva test and really quick."

The blonde beauty had already considered getting a "full mastectomy and breast reconstruction to make sure she's around for as long as possible for the children" if her results had come back positive for the faulty gene.

Christine's mother discovered she had breast cancer after she found a lump during lockdown last year but, after completing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she is now in remission.

Taking to her Instagram account at the time, Christine said: Taking to Instagram and posting a snap of her cuddling her beloved parent, she penned the following note for her followers: 'Ma. Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and loved more than you know. So many of you ask about my mum, she is doing amazingly well, I'm so proud of her. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy is all done now it's time for her to enjoy life! (sic)"
