Christine McGuinness hopes her mother will be well enough to support her at 'Strictly the Real Full Monty'.
The 33-year-old star - who is set to strip off for the ITV charity show to raise awareness for life-saving cancer checks - has revealed her mum Joanne is set to undergo treatment "the day before" filming.
She told OK! magazine: "I really hope she is, but at the minute, I don’t know. Her chair will be there waiting.
"She’s got bone infusions the day before and we don’t know how she’s going to be. But my mum is the strongest, most independent woman, and she’s laughed all the way through this.
"That’s the one thing I’ve been able to do with her – I’ve picked up the phone and I’ve laughed."
The model and presenter revealed the show is close to her heart following her mum's diagnosis in 2020, while she has also lost an auntie to the disease.
She explained: "I had four aunties with cancer – one of them sadly passed away, three of them are doing amazing.
"Then my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. It was aggressive and it was during the pandemic, so we weren’t able to be there for her.
"I couldn’t give my mum a cuddle when she was going through chemotherapy. It tore us apart and broke our hearts."
Meanwhile, Christine described her appearance on the show as a "little thank you" for Joanne, as she opened up on the "really special bond" they share.
She added: "I’ve only got my mum. She’s the only grandparent to my three children, so we’ve got a really, really special bond.
"I don’t think I’m ever going to get over not being able to be there for her when she was going through the most difficult time in her life.
"So, this is a little thank you to her. She’s doing amazing, but it’s early days."
