Chris Evans has hinted that The Stig has been axed from 'Top Gear'.
The BBC Radio 2 DJ was announced as the new host of the BBC Two motoring show earlier this week after Jeremy Clarkson was sacked for punching a producer in a row over a steak and he's now revealed that in addition to Jeremy's colleagues Richard Hammond and James May, the anonymous driver may not be making a return either.
Speaking on BBC One's 'The One Show' about the possibility of The Stig being replaced by another driver in disguise, he said: "A Stigette. A lady Stig or a Stigette. The Stig's offspring. Anything's up for grabs."
The news comes as the 49-year-old star revealed the BBC will be holding auditions to find his new co-hosts.
Evans also insisted that fans will be informed about any decisions as soon as they are made.
He said: "We're not going to drag things out so it becomes a soap opera. When we've decided something - if we sign someone today, a presenter or driver or anything - we will tell you, immediately."
