Chris Evans is to break his 18-year absence from Saturday night TV this weekend.

More than a decade after fronting 'Don't Forget Your Toothbrush', Evans admits he is being brought in to lift what is "barely a show" from its "two-dimensional nothingness" when he hosts 'The National Lottery Live' on Saturday (05.10.13).

Producers are keen to give the 12-minute programme "more heart" as well as "give publicity to people involved in good causes" as the cost of tickets rises to £2.

Chris previously launched a TV comeback as the co-host of reality game show 'Famous and Fearless' in 2011 but the programme was axed after just one series, and he admits he is waiting for the right show to come along as he looks to make a more significant return to Saturday night TV.

He added to Radio Times magazine: "As it happens, I think I did my bit in 'Famous and Fearless' quite well. But there's real sense in waiting for the wind to blow back in your direction.

"When you're hot on TV, like I was from 1992 to 2000, you think people are buying your ideas, your formats, but they are not.

"They're buying the heat. They want to hire you. You start thinking you're a genius, but you aren't. With radio, I just waited and it all worked out. And what I'm doing with TV is just waiting. When the wind comes back, I will go."
