Channel 4 is launching 'Come Dine With Me: The Professionals' later this year.
The broadcaster is expanding its culinary series - which sees a number of guests take it in turns to present a dinner - as Dave Lamb will return as the narrator for a spin-off show focused on trained chefs and restaurateurs.
MultiStory Media producer Tim Carter said: "For 15 glorious years, we've been celebrating the culinary creations and epic fails that pour forth from the nation's home kitchens.
"Now, as they recover from the battering of the last couple of years, 'Come Dine With Me' cheers on Britain's restaurants with its customary love note to gastronomic endeavour."
As reported by The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column, each episode of the spin-off will feature three local restaurants competing to claim a cash prize, which will be shared among their staff.
Each eatery will be represented by two staff - such as the owner and head chef - as they try to impress the others with a meal.
Meanwhile, the dinners will take place during a regular evening, which means the rivals will be able to assess the atmosphere and service as well as the food itself before giving it a total score out of 20.
An insider told the publication: "Viewers love the authenticity of the show, whether it's a diner effing and blinding through a kitchen fail for when they struggle to contain their emotions following a loss.
"We expect less of that in 'The Professionals' - but who knows?
"The stakes are higher as the venue's reputation is on the line - and local rivalries may already exist."
Meanwhile, a representative for MultiStory Media added: "We're looking forward to heading across the country to meet some of the UK's best restaurateurs and chefs."
