A 'Come Dine with Me' spin-off has been confirmed by Channel 4.
The daytime show - which has aired on the screens since 2005 - features a group of strangers hosting three-course dinner parties in their own homes, all for the chance to win a cash prize of £1,000, and now a new series, titled ‘Come Dine With Me: The Professionals’, will be giving a new twist on the classic show.
In a bid to be crowned the best independent restaurant, professional chefs and restaurant owners will battle it out.
Each of the self-contained 20 episodes will feature three local bistros hoping to win the ‘CDWM:TP’ title and claim the award and cash prize which will be shared among the winning restaurant's staff.
The cooking competition will take part during normal dinner service, so that the diners can have a chance to absorb the atmosphere and check out the service as well as the food.
In a similar concept to the couple version of ‘Come Dine With Me’, each eatery will be represented by a duo from the establishment.
MultiStory Media’s Simone Haywood said: “'Come Dine With Me: The Professionals' pays homage to one of the nation’s most-loved industries.
"We’re looking forward to heading across the country to meet some of the UK’s best restaurateurs and chefs in this new twist on our classic format.”
Jo Street, Head of Daytime and Features at Channel 4, added: “'Come Dine With Me' continues to be one of Channel 4’s best loved programmes with many memorable dinners served all over the UK in over 2,000 episodes.
"'CDWM: The Professionals' promises to really raise the stakes and we’re delighted to dish up this new extension on Channel 4 in 2022 to complement existing favourites 'Come Dine With Me' and 'Couples Come Dine With Me'.”
'Come Dine With Me: The Professionals' will begin on Channel 4 and All 4 in 2022.
