The former 'Love Island' couple - who broke up last year after meeting in the villa in 2019 - opened up about the end of their relationship during his first session with the E4 show's dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson.
As quoted by The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column, he said: "I cried, because I hadn’t spoken to anybody about the Maura situation before.
"To talk openly and freely was a breath of fresh air. It was nice to be able to speak with people I felt safe talking about it with.”
Discussing their split, Curtis insisted they both needed to focus on their careers.
He added: "I love the work I do, and I’m still young.
“I just feel it was also the same for Maura, and it just meant we went our separate ways.”
Back in November, the 24-year-old dancer admitted he felt "betrayed" by Maura after she revealed her relationship with Chris Taylor.
Curtis - who also met Chris in the 'Love Island' villa - said: "I feel betrayed by them both - two people I was very close to.
"When I saw the pictures, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel hurt. I was upset. How long has this truly been going on for?"
Curtis was accused of cheating on Maura after they announced their split earlier this year.
But he's now kicking himself for not reading the "signs".
He said: "At the time I was accused of cheating, but I never did. I was always faithful to Maura.
"If you look back on everything - and I am looking back on it now - I’m like, ‘Curtis, all the signs were bloomin’ there, why didn’t you realise then?’
"You just don’t when you are in that situation. You trust what they say. Now her true colours are shown. They said they would never ever be together, and here they are."
