The 36-year-old star - who was crowned first ever Queen of the Castle in 2020 as the ITV reality show moved to Gwrych Castle due to the pandemic -won't be back to pass on the baton and crown during Sunday's final (12.12.21), as is tradition for former winners.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “ITV would have loved to have Giovanna back, she was a hugely popular winner last year.

"But due to COVID rules — even with the show coming to an end on Sunday — it was decided they couldn’t take the risk without her isolating, which is a lot to ask for a one-minute cameo.”

Producers of the show faced a similar dilemma last year when Jacqueline Jossa - who was crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2019, when the show last took place in Australia – was initially invited back to Gwrych Castle.

However due to the Christmas lockdown, those plans were ditched and Vernon Kay, who was second runner up, stepped in to crown Giovanna instead.

Louise Minchin became the fifth celebrity to leave the ITV show on Thursday (09.12.21), as she admitted she had a "fantastic experience" in the castle.

After her exit was confirmed, Louise shared: "I've learned so much about myself and about other people. It's been fantastic, thank you for keeping me here for so long."

Louise's exit came 24 hours after Naughty Boy was eliminated from the show, leaving Frankie Bridge, Matty Lee, Simon Gregson, Danny Miller, Adam Woodyatt and David Ginola battling for the crown.

Earlier in the episode, viewers were shown record producer Naught Boy's thoughts before he made his exit from the castle.

The 40-year-old star revealed before the public vote that he "genuinely wanted to see it through" after threatening to quit the show several times, and having a several arguments with some of his campmates.

He said: "When I started in The Clink there was some doubt in my mind about continuing - the stars aligned and we were in the castle and I genuinely want to see this through for however long the public want me in. But I’m ready. I’m ready for whatever."
