The new home of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ has been flooded.

The ITV reality show is moving from its usual base in the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales, this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but with just weeks to go before it launches, producers have been left panicked by the recent wet weather, which is set to continue later this week.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “The crew are working around the clock as it is.

“But because of the dreadful weather they spent much of the weekend trying to remove standing water from areas of the building.”

Show bosses have been left with a “soggy headache” trying to work out how to stop adverse weather conditions interfering with their filming schedule when the programme – which will see Ant and Dec return to host – returns to screens.

The source added: “They’re now trying to work out a way to make sure that, if there’s bad weather when the show airs in November, it doesn’t affect filming.

“The jungle set was fine when it rained as there was natural drainage and streams.

“But an ancient castle with no proper piping systems is a whole different story.

"It’s a very soggy headache at the moment.”

Last month, it was reported 'I'm A Celebrity' bosses had hired a team of former Royal Marines to keep the castle safe from intruders.

An insider said: "The overall aim is to create a ring of steel around the landmark as ITV continue to transform it into a working set.

"And after investing millions in the project, they don't want the big reveal ruined by anyone getting into the site so they are enlisting a small army of guards to patrol the place."
