'Celebrity Eggheads' is set to return in 2022.
The quiz show format will be back on Channel 5 - where it has been a ratings hit since being revived last month - in the new year as part of a bumper 60-episode series, and bosses are confident of securing some top stars for the star-studded episodes.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column: "This is really exciting. A lot of celebs love the show, so it won't be hard to get good names to take part."
Host Jeremy Vine is happy to be carrying on the programme's legacy after leaving BBC Two.
He said: "I'm ecstatic 'Eggheads' is continuing on Channel 5.
"We've made such a lovely home here and I can't wait to see the Eggs take on even more challengers in the new year."
Boss Daniel Pearl admitted it was an easy decision to recommission the show for more episodes.
He added: "After its success on the channel, there was only one answer when deciding to recommission it and that was a yes."
Jeremy, 55, previously claimed the Beeb axed 'Eggheads' in a bid to attract younger viewers.
He said: "The good old BBC are very aware they need to innovate constantly and bring on a younger audience.
"If you’re a successful show – which 'Eggheads' is, with over 2,000 editions – you’re always going to be vulnerable to somebody saying, 'I think we can find something better.' "
The BBC explained the decision was made to help the broadcaster "grow new shows", while wishing Jeremy and the team all the best for the future.
A spokesman said at the time: "We sometimes have to make difficult decisions in order to grow new shows and we would like to thank the Eggheads and Jeremy Vine, and wish them well with their next chapter."
