'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses are urging the stars to wash more often to reduce the risk of coronavirus.
Producers are keen to ensure the ITV reality show can continue amid the pandemic, with the Gwrych Castle campmates reminded of the need for "good hygiene".
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Regular washing is the way to keep the bug at bay, as the government has reiterated from the word go.
“ITV have worked so hard to get to this point, so the last thing they want is something to derail that.
“If one of them was to pick up Covid it could easily tear through camp and put the whole show at risk.”
It's said this year's line-up have been told to wash more than stars in previous series, as well as regularly sanitising their hands and following social distancing rules with the crew.
'I'm A Celebrity' co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have been following the same guidelines when they join the celebrities in camp.
Each of the 12 campmates had to isolate for two weeks before going into the castle, but there's reportedly still a risk of the virus spreading through the crew.
However, everyone working on the programme is being tested twice a week, while the whole site is being deep-cleaned.
The source said: "Producers have reminded contestants to maintain a good level of hygiene, which means regular handwashing and showers where possible.
"It’s not something they are taking lightly.”
The current series has moved from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle in north Wales, and the team is having to adapt to its new surroundings while making the most of the spooky setting, which is said to be haunted.
The traditional campfire is now found inside the stone ruins of the castle, which serves as both the stars' living quarters and the area where Ant and Dec reveal which of them is taking on the trial.
What's more, the live show airs in the evening for the guests - instead of morning time in Australia - which means the tasks will be held late at night, with a torchlit staircase replacing the famous bridge.
