'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses are keeping their Wales location as a back-up in case they cannot return to Australia this year.

Last year's show aired from Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Wales, and while bosses are keen to head back to Queensland, they could yet return to Wales as the Golden Sands Holiday Park in Rhyl is said to be available for the production team to stay there - as they did last year - if it is required.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Everyone is hoping to get back Down Under for the sunshine, including Ant and Dec.

"But just in case that is ruled out by the authorities, a back-up plan is essential and that’s why the caravan site has been primed once more."

The site - which is less than five miles from the haunted castle - were delighted to house the crew last year during the show.

In September, a statement read: "We are absolutely over the moon."

This comes after it was reported in May that ITV were said to have "assurances from Australian border control bosses" that clearance will be given for the cast and crew to film Down Under later this year.

A border force source said: "ITV have assurances from Australian border control bosses that even if a wider travel ban is still in place for tourists, they’ll get the paperwork and clearance they need to send cast and crew to Oz. It’s a big moment."

However, ITV confirmed a final decision about where the show - which is co-hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly - will be filmed this year was yet to be made.

An ITV spokesman said: "No final decision has yet been made regarding the location for the new series."
