'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses are replacing Kiosk Kev with a Welsh counterpart this year.
The ITV reality show is undergoing a lot of changes, with the upcoming series moving from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it's going to impact all areas of the programme.
Detailing plans for the introduction of Kiosk Cledwyn - named after late local politician Cledwyn Hughes - a source told The Sun newspaper: "ITV bosses are having a lot of fun with the tweaks being made to this year’s series, including the characters who’ve been on the show since it started in 2002.
“Obviously flying Kiosk Kev, who is played by a farmer called Mark Herlaar, to the UK was a no-go so they’ve cast Kiosk Cledwyn.
“The name is a bit of an in-joke and is a nod to Cledwyn, who was the Secretary of State for Wales in the late Sixties."
With Kev's departure, his signature Dingo Dollar Challenge will also have to undergo some changes to fit the new location.
The insider added: “He will be the face of the new Dingo Dollar Challenge, the game played daily by the celebs to win treats, but it’s been given a revamp.
“The task is now known as the Castle Coin Challenge and will be just as difficult as before.”
While the familiar jungle surroundings will be gone, bosses have worked hard to find a fitting location - which is even said to be haunted.
But there will still be a campfire - a regular in the 'I'm A Celebrity' Australian jungle - in an unsheltered part of the 19th-century fortress.
An insider explained: "ITV want viewers to largely recognise the show."
But to make the castle safe for the show - which will once again be hosted by Ant and Dec - ITV have had to repair towers, and install hundreds of yards of pipes and electrics.
