Rumours have recently also suggested that Caroline is being lined up to replace Dermot O'Leary as the main host of The X Factor alongside her former Xtra Factor co-host Olly Murs, and it is these commitments which could stop her from taking the Love Island job.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, a source revealed: "Caroline's been in talks for some time about being the sole presenter of 'Love Island'.

"Obviously the 'X Factor' job complicates things a bit because it's going to screen over summer.

"But they're looking at the dates and trying to make it work around her.

"It's a real sign that she's right back in favour at ITV."

Originally running for two series between 2005 and 2006, Love Island was confirmed to be coming back earlier this year to ITV, with the broadcaster confirming a host of singletons will jet off together to live in a private villa with the hopes of finding love.

12 celebrities spent five weeks on an island in Fiji in the original series, with the winning couple taking a prize fun worth £50,000.

Calum Best and love interest Bianca Gascoigne scooped the prize in the second series before the show was axed.
